MCA Youth to take part in pro-Palestine rally

PETALING JAYA: MCA Youth will take part in the planned six-day rally outside the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to call on the international community to commit to a Gaza ceasefire, says its deputy chief Mike Chong.

The "Aksi Bertindak: Kepung Demi Palestin" rally, organised by the Sekretariat Solidariti Palestin, begins on Tuesday (Dec 26) evening and will end on Sunday (Dec 31).

"We share similar views with over 60 non-governmental organisations, student unions and political parties who want the Israeli Defence Forces to stop its violence against the Palestinians," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The rally aims to pressure the international community into calling for a ceasefire in Gaza immediately," he added.

Chong said the Youth wing could not sit idly by as the people in Gaza continue to be massacred, with over 20,000 Palestinians reportedly killed since early October.

He added that MCA Youth has sent a memorandum to Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia Walid Abu Ali in support of the ceasefire.
